Numerous GSOC members joined other ambitious Triad (&NC) recreational "aspiring" athletes in Lake Lure with various 2mp2m ("Too Much Pleasure To Measure")/GSOC teams for three days of Hickory Nut Olympiad events @ the end of August that provided medals in kayaking, horseshoes, triathlon relays, beach volleyball, tennis doubles, distance swims, etc, etc. GSOC members earning medals over the weekend included Terry Beck, Andre Bass & Elsie Bell with a bronze (3rd) in beach-volleyball, Donna Sizemore on a team capturing silver (2nd) in beach-volleyball, Charlie Sink & Paula Davis on a team that earned gold (1st) in the tri-relays, as well as yours truly, Hal Boyle with a gold in a separate 400 meter lake (swim).

Within the 2mp2m/GSOC group there were approximately 30 (of all ages) to make this Lake Lure trip a unique adventure, housed in four locations for the weekend with fellowship events that included scenic kayaking, lazy-river pool-floating, an afternoon pontoon-boat cruise, a spectacular fireworks show, shag/line dancing, horseshoes, a rocky river-swim, a sunny visit (to indulge) @ the famous "Tiki-bar" (behind the Geneva motel), a golf-course breakfast & event and a very local Sunday chapel service! It doesn't get much more FUN than this......Thanks to all GSOC Triathlon participants this season......you all are winners and see you again next season!

March 14, 2010 GSOC Azalea WILMINGTON WINS (3/14)
Two (2) of the four (4) triathlon relays that GSOC members competed in Wilmington together earned podium awards (large, custom Azalea beach-towels) on a most beautiful Sunday morning @ the campus of UNC-W! Finishing second among 20 women's relays entered included GSOC member Marlyn Hager's (bike-leg) that earned a third-place podium finish (her daughters "Ginny" & "Melonie" also competed with us)! Every GSOC triathlon participant received a colorful Azalea Triathlon technical t-shirt too.......................
